As is often the case, wealth proves more easily quantifiable than beauty does, so from an objective standpoint, it is difficult to measure one over the other as far as existing members go. However, there is a least a system in place to insure that you can tell whether someone is being honest about the level of financial success achieved. That is really the only feature different than most other online dating sites provide.

The MillionaireMate profile process is brief with few mandatory areas to be completed, including a brief write-up about yourself. Most other sections can be skipped completely and, in fact, you never have to include information about your income if you choose not to. I'm not sure if by default that would make most others think you consider yourself on the beautiful side of the fence, or if they may understand that you don't plan to reveal too much before being asked directly by someone else.

I did mention that there was something special about the site. It does have a process in place to verify your appearance (by providing a copy of your photo ID), your job (ID and business card, or company letterhead) and your income (driver's license, income tax or bank statement). You can submit these documents via email with an attached digital scan, or by fax, although there is no snail mail option I could see. I didn't seem to see many folks who had verified their info.

Moreover, if you were wondering whether MillionaireMate.com might not make the usual old-fashioned assumptions regarding which gender in the relationship would be the physically attractive versus financially successful, they keep to traditional views. Individuals that have provided proof of employment or income can be sorted out of the general 'men seeking women' category. On the other hand, women cannot be filtered by any verification method.

There is only one method of communication—onsite email. Although free members cannot initiate messages, you can reply to 10 messages received from premium subscribers each day. Other access is limited as well until you upgrade, as you can only view a certain number of full-profiles each day. Everyone can add a video introduction to his or her account, though.

Finally, the two drawbacks that are a real deal breaker as far as my enthusiasm for joining are the price and the current number of visitors to the site. It cost anywhere from about 20 to 30 percent more than many other web personals sites and attracts limited web traffic. Millionaire Mate is too pricey and not popular enough to make it a sure choice—at least not at this time.
